Dental crowns are recommended by dentists when a tooth has lost a significant amount of tooth structure or when a tooth has cracks. Crowns can be seen as a cap or covering that goes over a weakened tooth in order to prolong its life.
We advise our patients to have regular check-ups in order to detect any potential problems before they become much larger and more painful issues. For example, gum disease precursors, such as bad breath and bleeding gums, recognised and treated early can avoid pain and loss of teeth in the future. Similarly, tooth decay identified and treated early can avoid future pain, need for tooth extractions or root canal treatment.
