What Are Dentures?

Dentures are custom-made to fit your mouth and can be adjusted to ensure a comfortable, snug fit.

Types of Dentures

There are two main types of dentures: full dentures and partial dentures. Full dentures are used when all of the natural teeth are missing. On the other hand, partial dentures are used when only some of the natural teeth remain.

There are a number of benefits to dentures. Dentures can restore your smile and confidence, and they can also help you speak and eat more comfortably. Dentures also help to keep your jawbone healthy and strong.

We offer a variety of denture options, and we will work with you to find the best option for your needs. We also offer a variety of financing options, so you can get the dentures you need without breaking the bank.

Frequently asked questions

If you’re considering dentures as a solution for restoring your smile and oral function, you likely have a range of questions. We hope these FAQs will provide answers and help you make informed decision about your oral health.

How are dentures made?

The first step in creating dentures is to take an impression of the patient’s mouth. This is done by having the patient bite down on a soft, pliable material that hardens quickly. Once the impression is made, it is sent to a dental laboratory where the denture base and teeth are made.

The base of the denture is made from a hard, plastic material. It is designed to fit snugly over the gums and provide support for artificial teeth. The teeth are made from porcelain or acrylic and are carefully shaped and coloured to match the patient’s natural teeth.

Once the base and teeth are ready, they are assembled and fitted to the patient’s mouth. The fit is checked and adjustments are made as necessary. Once the denture is fitting comfortably, the patient is given instructions on how to care for it and how to avoid damaging it.

How can I take care of my dentures?

When you first get your dentures, you may feel like they don’t fit right or that they’re going to fall out. Don’t worry, this is normal! It takes a little time to get used to wearing dentures. Here are some tips to help you care for your new dentures and keep them looking their best.

  • Rinse your dentures before putting them in your mouth. This will help remove any food or plaque that may be on them.
  • When you’re not wearing your dentures, store them in a denture bath or in water. This will keep them from drying out and prevent them from getting damaged.
  • Brush your dentures daily with a soft-bristled toothbrush. You can also use a denture cleaner to help remove any plaque or bacteria.
  • Avoid using toothpaste when cleaning your dentures. Toothpaste is too abrasive and can damage your dentures.
  • Visit your dentist regularly to have your dentures checked and cleaned. They can also make any adjustments that may be needed.

Following these tips will help you care for your dentures and keep them looking their best.

What are the alternatives to dentures?

Dentures are commonly thought of as the only option for people who have lost all of their natural teeth. However, there are a number of alternatives to dentures that can provide a more comfortable and natural-looking solution.

Implants: Dental implants are a popular alternative to dentures. Implants are titanium posts that are surgically placed into the jawbone to act as artificial tooth roots. Once the implants have healed, artificial teeth can be attached to the implants. Implants are very strong and stable, and they can last a lifetime with proper care.

Bridge: A dental bridge procedure is another option for replacing missing teeth. A bridge consists of artificial teeth that are attached to existing teeth on either side of the gap. Bridges can be made from a variety of materials, including porcelain, gold, or a combination of these materials.

Partial Dentures: Partial dentures are an option for people who are missing some, but not all, of their natural teeth. Partial dentures are usually made of acrylic and metal, and they fit snugly over the existing teeth.

Complete Dentures: Complete dentures are an option for people who are missing all of their natural teeth. Complete dentures are made of acrylic and fit over the gums. Complete dentures can be either removable or fixed in place.

No matter which type of denture you choose, it is important to see a dentist regularly to ensure that your dentures fit properly and remain in good condition.

Fantastic staff. I am a truly anxious patient, and the receptionist, Frances, who took my first contact call, I felt safe. Dr Reza Sunny was so patient with me, allowing me to do tapping when I was overwhelmed, never losing focus, totally understanding. Incredibly kind. Incredibly good dentist. I had cleaning, filling, and removal of a broken molar. Even though I may still get anxious I feel safe returning when needed.

This is my first time ever to have a positive comment about a dentist.
I was astonished about the successful outcome of my dental procedure. Thank you Casey and Dr Reza, what a professional and dedicated team. I mentioned to my partner about it, and we went back to the clinic and she made an appointment for herself on the spot. I do not hesitate to recommend to any one the services of Moorooka Dental Care. Thank you all for your friendly attention, starting from the reception all way to the manager. Looking forwards to see you again.

Can't thank the team at Moorooka dental care enough for an amazing friendly experience! I have now seen both Dr Reza Sunny for general cosmetics work including fillings to teeth whitening, clean up/check ups. Very good at explaining and being upfront with procedures process and Dr Zaheer who removed both my bottom wisdoms last week did an absolute fantastic job from start to finish. They even went the extra mile to call up and check up on me a few days later to see how my recovery was going. 10/10 for service and pricing. Thanks

Both are excellent professionals. They took the time to explain the procedures and the subsequent cares. I even got a follow up call from the practice manager, Ahmed, the next day. I highly recommend them!
